It is lovely to connect with you for the first time in what has been a busy and challenging Term 4.
Eunice Callaghan
It remains my sombre, yet privileged task to place on the Kenwick School record, the passing of our wonderful colleague Eunice. Eunice passed away on 15 October. The following is our tribute to Eunice;
“Eunice was a respected and valued Kenwick School staff member. Eunice’s awesome sense of humour was appreciated and every day she brought fun to her work”.
She embraced her role as an Education Assistant and was always willing to learn new ways to teach our students. Eunice was passionate and enthusiastic in her pursuit to ensure students reached their full potential; she innovatively explored ways to achieve this.
Eunice was tireless, persistent, she never gave up. Above all, Eunice really cared.
She left an indelible impression on students and colleagues alike.
Eunice is and will remain a true Kenwick Legend.
We will miss you, Eunice. Rest in peace.
Finally, to:
Lyle, Rocky, Julie your families, Eunice’s Family
I express on behalf of our school community our deepest, heartfelt condolences.”
My Thanks
I want express my sincere thanks to all parents/caregivers for their kind consideration, as their circumstances allowed, to keep their children home last Friday 8 November. I appreciate that this was not an easy thing to arrange. These thoughtful actions allowed, with our Director General’s permission, the partial closure of the school; to enable rostered staff to attend Eunice’s funeral.
In all about 75-85 past and present day work colleagues attended to pay their respects to this extraordinary woman, colleague and friend. The service was a wonderful celebration of her life and captured Eunice’s love for family, friendships and her work here at Kenwick School; as well as her cheeky character.
Save the Dates
In closing I invite your all to save the dates for these two auspicious annual celebrations;
• Graduation Ceremony – 28 November at the Real Life Church, Gosnells
• End of Year Concert – 17 December @ 5:30 at Kenwick School.
I hope you can all attend.
