Room 9/10: August/Sept – Cooking up a treat!

Where has term 3 gone? Thank you to all who participated in the Super Hero Day. It was great to have so many dress up for this to add to the excitement and fun. We’ve been cooking up a treat this term, with some of the favourites being chicken and corn soup, potato and ham chowder and fresh fruit salad which was turned into a smoothie. During cooking sessions all the students are able to feel the ingredients, smell them, help prepare them and then help cook them where necessary. Our finished products are then pureed for those able to have food orally. Dawn and Deanna particularly enjoyed the strawberry, blueberry and banana smoothie while Sebastian loved the strawberries and blueberries. All students are able to assist with blending or pureeing the food by means of a switch box and a large switch. Now we are looking forward to the holidays. For 3 of our students, Robert, Shreen and Deanna, next term will be their final before they graduate, and they have been looking particularly smart in their graduation t-shirts.

We wish you a safe and happy holiday.
