The school camp programme is a great way to stretch the independence of our students outside of the activities they might ordinarily do. Rm 8 students had the opportunity to get out and about during the day on excursions and join in with dinner and the sleepover. You would think the day trips would have tired everyone out but some how the fun and frivolity continued after sun down. Prank calls, mysterious knocking on windows in the dark, and sneaky room raids with pillows going missing. Our kids were being kids on camp! But once the beds were made and the movies went on, everyone snuggled down for a good sleep. We were spoilt with meals that were a far cry from typical ‘camp food’.The Day 2 programme based at school was totally inclusive as the students rotated through structured activities of art, a pirate-lead treasure hunt, sensory experiences with slime, noodles and sand, waffle making and learning some new groovy moves during dancing. Students and teachers alike went home exhausted and happy but we can’t wait to do it all again with a future camp later in the year.
